Discussion Thread -> **Special**"National Pizza Month!" Throwdown (Entry & Discussion Thread)

I'm learning a lot, good thing I didn't try to enter something like a chuck rib pizza.

A quiche is thick with an egg based filling and meats and cheese. A quick look through google images does not show anything that remotely resembles what you entered under breakfast pizza.. Slap a couple bacon slices on top of any of those breakfast quiches though....

Actually, a quiche is a pielike dish consisting of an unsweetened pastry shell filled with a custard and usually containing cheese and other ingredients, as vegetables, seafood, or ham. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/quiche

A pizza is a flat, open-faced baked pie of Italian origin, consisting of a thin layer of bread dough topped with spiced tomato sauce and cheese, often garnished with anchovies, sausage slices, mushrooms, etc. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/pizza?s=t

Now, based on these definitions, and looking at his cook thread, I would think he's made a pizza since he uses dough and not a pastry shell and definately doesn't have a custard. BTW: A custard is defined as a combination of eggs, sugar, and milk.

For the first ruling, I would agree, those were tostada's. With the second, I would tend to disagree that it's a quiche. Quiche is made with a pie crust. Also a search for breakfast pizza shows a number of recipes that call for whisking eggs together.

Thank you.

Sometimes personal prejudices trump what's right or wrong...sad but I digress.

Seriously people, move on...it's not that big of a deal. The mods made a decision, and not everyone agrees with them...we get it.

It's perfectly ok for posters to voice their opposition opinions on a very suspect decision.

Dude... Let it go. A decision was made and I can assure you that no "personal prejudices" were involved. The TD mods were mixed so they went to the forum mods for assistance. Whatever you think of us (and you've made that very clear) as members, as moderators we DO NOT take "personal prejudice" as a factor in our decisions. We decide based on forum rules and, in this case, TD rules and the category. You took a shell and filled it with uncooked eggs, meat and veggies, and topped it with cheese. That's a quiche. Yeah, it's a fine line, but a decision was made. Deal with it and, in the immortal words of Jimmy Buffett, "Breathe in, Breathe out, Move on."

And, in case you need a reminder, these are from our rules...

This is an outline of what you CAN’T do.
  • Advertise, hawk, pimp, sell or solicit anything. Period.
  • Solicit for donations or post fundraisers without approval from admin staff.
  • **Insult or Flame others..
  • Racism, slurs, prejudice, bigotry, vulgarity, or offensive language stricly forbidden
  • Post material that has a copy right or is privately owned without express permission from its author and/or owner
  • Post any type of porn or other illegal materials
  • Air dirty laundry. If u have an issue with another member or staff, take it private.

and...

A MODERATORS DECISION IS FINAL. If your moderated, live with it and move on. We live by these rules, and any moderator action is due to an infringement. We don't moderate on content, but we do enforce these rules.
  • Challenging a moderator in public for their action will lock you down, all abilities to post and edit will be removed.
  • Whining to the admin will get you no where, so don’t bother.
  • When you are moderated for an infraction or infringement, you might receive a PM as to why. If it was a blatant infringement, it will be deleted with no notice. If not, it is acceptable to send a civil note to the moderators requesting the reason. We dont sent messages for general scrubbing or cleanup of banter or chatter.
When subject actions are in question the decision of the moderators and/or Site Administrator is final. Any member assuming a second identity for the sake of circumventing our rules or administrative action will be permanently banned.

If you disagree with their actions, take it private thru the Private Messaging system and keep it civil. A public display of flames, tantrums or sniping at the moderators will cause immediate ejection and banning.

Yeah, they can post what they want...but at some point you just need to man up, and move on.

Not sure what your hashtag is supposed to signify, but if it is aimed toward me, it is incorrect. I am not choosing sides, just trying to get things moving in a positive direction. All this bickering back & forth, does nothing for the TD's, it just makes people want to stay away.

I've got a few skins left myself. One of my favorite cooks an eats.
