Yeah what I'd suggest is creating a recipe step and writing in the notes area for each time you check on the meat or temp and timestamp it. The way I initially thought about how the log is designed is you build the steps as you go and timestamp them. The temperature slider at the beginning of the log is just a goal for the cook.

A "step" could be an actual recipe step, checking meat, checking temp, mopping, flipping, etc. Then look back once you're done and see the work that went into your actual cook.

I was just thinking of putting together something like this. I'm so glad you beat me to it because I know it was a lot of work. Thanks for this!

Feature request: a way to add photos! It would be nice to keep trophy shots and cook temp charts with each entry.
