Salisbury steak is comfort food in my house. And it's just in time for the Comfort Food Throwdown.

Of course you have to have mashed potatoes, so I made my grilled garlic mashed potatoes. They turn out kinda rough and rustic. Not all smooth and creamy. But delicious just the same.

I start by cutting chunks out of the scrubbed potatoes. Then fill the divot with softened butter. Then add large garlic cloves.

Then the spuds are wrapped tight in foil and cooked on the grill.
I broke out the CGA for this cook.

While the spuds "bake" I cooked up some Salisbury type meatballs, indirect on the 22".

After a while with some Hickory smoke they were done and looked like this.

When the spuds got done I tossed some scrawny spears on the CGA and smashed the taters, skins and all, with a buncha butter and chicken stock.

Then it was time for the onion and mushroom gravy. It can't be comfort food without gravy, can it?

And the balls all jumped in for a swim.

In the end, this is what we ate.
Salisbury Steak Meatballs on Garlic mashed potatoes.

It was all cooked on the grills so it was a good time indeed.

And as always, thanks for checking it out.

Craig, that all looks real good!

I like my baked taters well done and almost mashed like.
I’m gonna give that method a try.

Looks tasty to me. I've never seen potatoes done that way. Might have to give that a run sometime.

Thanks,

Robert
