Ms Kulick responded to my e-mail almost immediately. She stated that she is collecting and passing on all correspondence in this matter to her higher ups. Like I said before, it can’t hurt. If people here spent half as much time and effort on this as they did on the white bread topic we would be up to our eyes in Weber Briquettes by Wednesday.

We can Hope so!!

I bought close to 1300 lbs of the Weber briqs a year or so ago when HD was closing them out. At $3.50 a bag it was a no brainer. No way I would pay their retail price of $19.99 a bag. They are great briqs but ash a TON. I used them in my 270s all last year and now running them in my Hunsakers and of course weber when i grill. I have maybe 500 lbs left and to be honest i cant wait for my supply to be gone. They can be a pain to light as well cause of the size and density; many times i have come back to my drum or 270 and i have no action as my 2 wax starter cubes wasnt enough to get them going. But they produce stable temps and no off smells like other brands. Did i mention the ash???

Maybe Weber could look at reducing production costs? I'd start with the bag. I ASSume it was an unnecessary added cost.

I'm 95% a lump user, but Weber is easily the best briqs I've used. I haven't tried B&B briqs yet, but I do like their hickory lump, so I will give it a try.

I agree that an email to Weber is worth the minimal effort it takes. Can't hurt.

I understand your sentiments. But if he didn't tell you why it wasn't cost effective then there is little that will change this.

1. Is it not cost effective because they are made by someone else and that someone doesn't want to make them anymore and wants to charge a ton?

2. Is it not cost effective because a base material used is getting harder to find and more expensive?

3. Is it not cost effective because other brands are now cheaper than ever and they are not getting the sales that they want and have a volume problem?

In essence the only way this problem can be solved is by doing an Elon Musk solution of solving the actual problem that everyone else states can't be solved. Without knowing what the real problem is then there is little hope. I would call them back and ask them to explain the real situation so we can put our heads together to solve the real problem.

Elon Musk didn't make electric cars popular simply because he started selling them. He made them popular by solving the battery problem.

Perhaps. But then dashing off a quick email might have some postive effect and took a whole lot less time than you took telling us why you think it was futile.

Rea is quite prompt with the response, and it's not just canned.

"Dear Mik,

Thank you for your feedback on the charcoal. I will forward your information to management. Hopefully we’ll see it back on the shelves again. I love it too and was very disappointed when I found out it was discontinued.

Happy Grilling,

Rea"

One drop of rain does not make a tide. If you folks really want to see weber charcoal come back then you would be posting this on every grilling forum you can find. You would be making you tube videos of this. You would be contacting BBQ podcasts. You would contact your local news.

I spent two years helping a bunch of lazy old people try to change the world through a tea party. But in the end I was one of the only ones who even learned how to update the website.

People talk as if they want to do things, but mostly they just want to feel like they are doing something. Me? I stopped wasting my time with grass roots campaigns because most people are a joke. I doubt any of you are actually going to do anything meaningful to try to make this happen. Me? I'm just going to use B&B if I want good coals. And guess what, the rest of you are going to do the same thing. So don't give me this line about not doing enough. No one here is going to bother to do anything meaningful about this. I know it. You know it. What I posted, finding the real "Not cost effective problem" and solving that, is the only real answer. It's just that no one really wants to work and even Weber might be just giving us all a line. The real answer is they want more profit, not that it's not profitable to have someone else make a product for you with your name on it. It's not like they are shutting down a factory here. All of this is a joke to me that you people can't see whats really going on here, arn't going to do a single meaningful thing to get what you say you want, and then want to point the finger at me for not "sending an email too". The joke is that you think my one email or your one means anything to them. Work to get 10,000 emails and then maybe the news will make a story about it. Work to solve the lack of profit complaint that they have and maybe they will sell it agian.

But in the end, I'll see you posting a picture of your B&B cook, just like everyone else because none of you are going to do what it really takes.

When I called Weber,to research the situation I was doing it for all those who would rather be cooking with Weber Charcoal, just a Brother trying to help the Brethren. The same mind set when I posted this thread. The same mindset when I posted it to Facebook. And the same mindset when I passed this info on to others I know who love to grill and smoke, asking them to HELP even if they did not use Weber Charcoal.
I could have made a ton of excuses WHY i did not need to do this, but thats not my mindset. I always try to Help my Brothers and Promote the Art of The Que, what other reason do I need?

Sad to say, but Weber has many years of sales data to inform their decision.

And I thank you for it. The one thing I know for sure is if you don't tell people (or companies) what you want, don't blame them if you don't get it.

Sure am glad you weren’t around when they were drafting the Declaration of Independence. Now before you get your knickers in a wad, I realize we are not trying to change history, I just want to point out that many things come about starting at the grass roots level.

Thank you to TCS&Q for the link to Weber. Email sent and got a quick response back. True BBQBrethren care about such things as this. Our real experience using this charcoal will make us miss it more when it’s gone. Others cop an attitude of negativity towards the efforts of others. Their inexperience and complete lack of hands on knowledge only serves to create friction and more and more negativity. Just because it’s written in a book doesn’t mean everyone must do, buy or follow that person. For those that care, send an email. For those don’t, sit back, don’t do anything, whine about others while you yank your own chain.

I'm another that's been using it because of picking up a number of bags when they were being cleared out at HD. It's worth my time to send the email.

I also agree whole heartedly that they could save a bit bit moving away from the higher end "resealable" bag. Great idea, horribly implemented
