Way to go ,you got a real deal.Congratulation. I think the best chicken I have every cooked ,was with pecan cooked at 325 followed by my mustard sauce.

Correct way is "puh-kahn". A "pee can" is what my daddy carried in the station wagon on road trips when I was a kid. He didn't like to stop and had 3 sons.
And he's in Texas. That makes his pronunciation even more painful!

But that is a heck of a haul for the price. I'm fortunate to have a couple of pecan trees in my yard so I generally get plenty of trimmings for smoking with for free.

Awesome buy. I get my 2500HD heaping like that for $100 (full 1/2 cord) from a guy just outside of Lampassas which is ok when I'm on my way to Canyon lake. He is 80+ and comes out and talks with you while you load it :).

Most PeeCan around here ( Dallas Fort Worth) fetches $125-$150 1/2 cord, atleast the stuff on Craigs List sold by firewood sellers but this guy is just cleaning up his 60 Acres and had a cpl dead or dying PeeCan trees, and some Oaks.

you pick up some of that Oak too , I love using that to start my good coal bed and then add my Pecan for smoking .
