Comp BBQ Superstitions... Thread

1) Jack starts at 10am saturday morning (Same Quau Pink Cup)
2) Blackhawks Camo Hat must be worn all Saturday
3) Sample the 3rd rib from the big end of every rack cooked
 
Dropkick Murphys while we build boxes and never discuss the meats we think we cooked really well that day until after awards (and hope we're right!).
 
Zac Brown Band playlist starts at 11:30 Saturday morning. 9:22 shot Saturday morning. Other than that, lots of water to flush out Friday night :D
 
My only comp superstition was that in order for me to do well, I had to have a cup of Ron_Ls coffee on Saturday morning.

That works for Brethren Bashes too. I've had Ron_L coffee at every single one and never flubbed a cook, even when cooking things I've never cooked before in my life.
 
Outside from what others have said, wearing the same short/shirt on Fri, we start the first contest every season with a dinner of Korean style Lettuce Wraps. On Saturday I have a shot of Bird Dog Peach at 7am and a shot of Patron at 11:30. I don't taste test any of the turn-in meat, that job is reserved for my beautiful box builder....

After turn-ins, during clean up, and awards, whatever makes it into my cancersuckschicago.com "This is not Jack" cup gets consumed.

That cup may be starting to fade, but it never seems to empty til I put it away in the trailer....funny how that happens.....
 
I never really thought about it before this thread, but I have zero superstitions or habits like these. Maybe that's the problem? :confused:
 
Every fire I've started in each Jambo has been lit with a wooden match from the same box. That box is almost empty and falling apart. Not sure what I'm going to do when it's empty.
