I cook with WSM's and minion method. I will light 12 or 14 coals in chimney, never 13.

I knew I wasn't the only one that counted how many pieces I put in the chimney. What a relief!

3) Sample the 3rd rib from the big end of every rack cooked

4. We have two terms we yell when boxes leave for turn ins: Omaha (channeling Mr. Manning) and Flapjack (that one has a funny story around it...find us on a Friday and I'll share :grin.

My only comp superstition was that in order for me to do well, I had to have a cup of Ron_Ls coffee on Saturday morning.

That works for Brethren Bashes too. I've had Ron_L coffee at every single one and never flubbed a cook, even when cooking things I've never cooked before in my life.

True, but Brisket is the well behaved dog around Georgia from what I hear, unlike Randy's mutt, Murray, who ate his burnt ends right off the counter during turn ins!!! :-D

I plan on bringing my crazy up to Michigan this summer to see if we can hang with the big dogs on their own turf!! I hear I need to get my app in soon, but we're planning on cooking in Auburn Hills in June. (yes, totally off topic from the OP I know).

Outside from what others have said, wearing the same short/shirt on Fri, we start the first contest every season with a dinner of Korean style Lettuce Wraps. On Saturday I have a shot of Bird Dog Peach at 7am and a shot of Patron at 11:30. I don't taste test any of the turn-in meat, that job is reserved for my beautiful box builder....

After turn-ins, during clean up, and awards, whatever makes it into my cancersuckschicago.com "This is not Jack" cup gets consumed.

That cup may be starting to fade, but it never seems to empty til I put it away in the trailer....funny how that happens.....

Every fire I've started in each Jambo has been lit with a wooden match from the same box. That box is almost empty and falling apart. Not sure what I'm going to do when it's empty.
