Ok... I want to try my hand at a packer brisket. My problem is I am having trouble finding one. I have checked three different local butcher shops and none keep them in stock or will order them for me. I live in central NC in the heart of pork BBQ country and the smaller shops cant sell enough briskets to warrant ordering a whole case. I even tried the grocery stores and walmart with no luck. It rains pork shoulders, boston butts, and ribs around here but a packer brisket is being a challenge. Any suggestions??

Costco, Sam's club, Walmart, Restaurant Depot.

I guess that may not be helpful since Texas is really easy to find brisket packers.

You could try a food supplier like sysco. Ive got a friend who buys his loins and whole rib eye through them. Also if you have an IGA, they have a great meat dept.

Packer brisket

You and I should meet halfway with a load of meat. Here in Central TX we can get choice brisket packers for $2.48 Pork ribs are $2.97 and butts are 2.80 when u can get em.

Holy Smokes. The only Choice Packer I could find around me was $7.99 a pound, which is ridiculous.

We should start an under ground railroad for meat. We should all fight to make all meat equally available for everyone regardless of geographic location!!

I buy all my meat from Kenyons. They know me well and they carry good stuff but due to the lack of demand for beef briskets they will not order them. I guess I will get a membership to Sams Club. I hear that Walmart will carry them from time to time.

I plan on picking up some brisket this week but have to buy a whole box of at least 5 briskets. Anyone else in the area interested in some brisket?

Like others have mentioned here, Costco and Sams might carry. Out here in Cali we have stores called Smart and Final, they always carry whole packers.

Ermmmm, they do? That's one place I never think to check, mostly because they're a bit off my path. I'll have to pop my head in there this weekend.

Evilswine, I'm in Charlotte. Might be too much of a trip to make it worthwhile, but give me a shout. Especially if you're ever in this area at all. I work from home, so I'm not up your way much.

I get mine at Costco, but have to ask for them. They are cryo sealed from the packer, prior to them cutting and selling just the flat. They will normally bring 4 - 6 to the window to let me choose.

Do tell. Are you in Fairfax County by any chance? Which Costco?

Yep, am off 50 Hwy and 495. We go to the Costco in Chantilly. Just get the attention of one of the guys working in the back and tell them you want a whole packer and they will bring them out if they have them. I think we paid about $3.59/lb
