Pork Butts are the absolute easiest thing to get right - the variables don't matter all that much - higher heat, lower heat - this only affects the cooking time, and makes little-no difference on the end product.

Just keep cookin until that bone wiggles out with little effort and you're golden. Have fun!
 
You know how we know you are new to bbqing. You passed out before you ate the meat! After your first couple of cooks you will learn the breaking point so you can get your buzz on and not pass out before you get to eat some q :p

I always make sure to start drinking AFTER I finish trimming. Hammered drunk on whiskey and trimming any cut of meat is bad! Don't ask how I learned this lesson. After the trimming is done I let it rip.
