Taking a family trip to Charleston, SC and would like to enjoy good BBQ as part of the vacation.

Any brethren have suggestions of places we gotta try?

Before this gets moved.

Until John Lewis gets his place up and running this is about your best bet.

Other honorable mentions are Home Team BBQ. (Go to the one located downtown)

Dukes BBQ on James Island. (Killer buffet)

Queology BBQ. (Fairly decent.)

Melvin's and Bessinger's BBQ are fair. (DO NOT order the brisket at these places. Worst shoe leather I've ever tasted.)

If you've got the time, head to Hemingway SC to Scott's BBQ. A taste of whole hog heaven. Don't let the facade fool you!

Also, treat yourself to one of Sean Brock's restaurants. You will not be disappointed!

My bad. What would be the appropriate to place this?

Thank you for the recommendations Pat, Swig and Swine caught my eye from a quick search.

When's the Carolina bash? We'll be there around July 4th

They'll move it to the Road Trips part of the forum.

Charleston's RightOnQue is at the Farmers Market on Marion Square Saturday until 2pm or so. Get there early if you want brisket. It's very good. The ribs are really good too.

Bash is this weekend! Pat gave you the best suggestions. Definitely try Scott's. They are old school whole hog cooks over coals!
