Farking CheapAzz Walmart Briskets! (Pron)

Mine is waiting for the cooker to come up to temp right now. Mine was $3.69 a pound. :sad:
 
My Walmart brisket slot empty this morning. Got yellow tag bones and ground sirloin. Good job
 
Been cooking those a lot this year. Mostly because I bought them at $1.67/LB. How do you like the injection?
 
Added my lunch to the Mix. Also gotta add 2 Racks of Spares plus Grill 12 lbs of Thick Chops for my Asian Buddies at Work.........


 
Looks awesome. Smoked sausage is one of my favorite things to fix.

I've done those Walmart briskets. There is no USDA rating so figure it falls under "standard." Good price but 35% trimmings add up. I haven't been too impressed when done on my cheap Komodo but could blame the cook. They get cooked tender but just not as flavorful as I recall from other cooking sessions with a "select" cut.

Been thinking about doing buffalo as we have locally raised source but concerned about it being even more lean.

I have never tried a brisket below select. All the ones I get from Walmart are select or choice.
 
This one had no Grade markings.






7 hrs in and it's still tight.........
 
8 1/2 Hrs and Finally probed Tender at 202*. Resting in Pan in Oven. Will Slice in about 1 hr. I dunno on this one. All the Walmart briskets Ive had before were marked Select with an ocassional Choice but not this one and this cook wasn't like usual.......Well see in 1-1.5 hrs. This one may Suck.......... :shock:
