Best way to cook largemouth bass?

I'm with Frank +3.

I eat quite a bit of fish and the problem with largemouth is that they spend so much time in warm water and live long lives that they don't taste nearly as good walleye or panfish.

I've eaten them three times in my life, and I disliked the result every time. I have no doubt that if you southern boys had more access to Walleye you would not be cooking bass.

I am with Big- Joe. I think they are great ( Be aware of the size limit )
Frank and Adam's also on the Bream and Crappie.
Never seen a Walleye that I know of.

If you've never seen a Walleye, then you need to take a trip north and catch some. Best eating fish hands down, no questions asked.

Catch them through the ice? They are a delicacy, big firm fillets without even the slightest hint of "fishy" or "river" taste. No buttermilk soak, no brine, just bread and fry or broil for poorman's lobster.

Have fun catching the bass, take pics of the big ones, then release them and go catch a mess of crappie. You will thank us all afterwards... :p

I catch a lot of crappie, walleye, stripers and catfish. Sometimes bass. The last bass I cooked, I stuffed with lime, cilantro and Big Poppa Jallelujah Jalapeno, then wrapped in leek leaves and roasted over hot coals.

It was tasty.

Other than that, I fry em.

Yup cook them whole like shown above. Try searching the internet for "grilling bronzino", that'll give you some ideas.

You, too, Jeanie!!!

Sorry, I had to razz you about that one, sweetheart!:becky:

Nice bass Jeanie!!!

Thank you Joe! I liked the jalapeno, leek and lime addition to this one. Had a nice kick.
I've used leek leaves and different flavor combos on other fish. I like this method of cooking whole fish for a change.

Smallest legally keep able from the deepest lake around is good for baked. I suggest lemons in the cavity, and a decent coat of tony's and butter on the outside.

Anything bigger or from shallower water and I would fry it.

I agree. Fry 'em filleted. A touch extra salt is good. We just salt, coat with yellow corn meal and fry. Good Stuff. Do your french fries in the fish grease.

We eat big lizards called Gators too. :becky: Y'all probably just never had it cooked right.

I'm with Toast, that's how I do mine also.

I put a lot of effort in raising them in the pond. I grew up poor, we ate what we caught for the most part.
