Super Crazy Hot / Spicy Rub and Sauce?

If the crucible rub isn't hot enough those two aren't going to cut it.

Ghost pepper would be as hot as I'd ever go. How much of it did you use? I just can't imagine that not being hot enough. HDD fires me up and I love heat

I used about 2.5 ounces per rack of rib before cooking..and then sprinkled the rest on after they were done.

Don't get me wrong...they were pretty hot. Definitely got me a tiny bit teary eyed and mouth was definitely burning.

Still, it's not crazy hot like I was expecting from a ghost pepper rub. I want to try and reproduce the spice level I found at this local Thai place I went to several months ago.

They have spice levels of 1-5 on the menu. Off the menu, there is no limit.

I graduated up to 15, and there was a point where I had to stop eating because I was on fire! I don't want to be that way with my Q because there's no way I want to stop eating it...but I definitely want to be like "holy #@#%" this is freaking hot kind of experience. :icon_devil

Reading through this thread reminded me that everyone definition of "hot" is different. I like spicy, HDD works for me, not thinking I want to try Crucible. I have slowly migrated up to Habanero's, Ghosts seem out of the question, but so did Hab's not too long ago... Gochujang tastes good, but is not hot to me.

Had a coworker into killer heat before. He always brought a different bottle in to try on taco day. One day, I put four drops spread out across a taco. Took the first bite. HOLY FARK! I had to spit it out and could not finish that taco. Mouth was on fire for the next couple hours. Made me leery of his sauces ever since...

I generally make my own rub and loaded up on about a dozen different ground chilies from Spice Barn as well as some of the local ethnic markets.

An eight ounce bag of ground habanero pepper would let you step up any off-the-shelf rub for a good while. They sell wasabi powder too if you want to take the heat beyond the mouth and into your sinuses.
