In response to the Tex-Mex thread I decided to compile this list for visitors to our beautiful city.

Here is a list of a few good Tex-Mex restaurants to visit while in San Antonio.

Notes**
**A “Fonda” is a nicer sit down style restaurant where traditionally a family might dress up to have dinner and they have a much more extensive menu.
**A “Taqueria or Taco Shop” is a more casual place that would range from a small Taco joint to a diner or luncheonette type of restaurant.
**When describing locations I’m using the term “near” relative to the downtown San Antonio area.

Listed in no particular order, websites provided where available. Most of the one’s I’ve listed are Fonda’s because that’s what most folks want when they come to visit.

Side note: the following three restaurants are all owned be the Cortez family and Mi Tiarra and La Magarita are right next to each other in the Market Square while Pico De Gallo is just on the other side of I-10 in walking distance of the other two. All are located on the west side of the downtown San Antonio area. While both Mi Tiarra’s and La Magarita’s menus are slightly different the food for both is mostly prepared in the same kitchen. These two restaurants are probably the most famous in San Antonio and are a very popular tourist destination. The food at all three ranges from very good to good depending on what it is and how busy they are.

IIRC, I believe Zilla directed us to Mi Tierra and La Margarita down in the Mexican district when we visited San Antonio. Again, IIRC, We ate at La Margarita and picked up some pastries from Mi Tierra for breakfast. Too many beers and ole timers sorta thing:redface:

Very good food and service. Highly recommended.

BTW, Hope you and your family are doing well Darwin!

Thanks Joe, we are indeed well and i hope you are too.
