Crumbled up ball of aluminum foil.

I just let mine hang through the top shelf/grate.
A small potato. Stick the probe through it and set it on the grate. When you're done cooking you can throw it at an annoying neighbor :-D

I broke my alligator clip pit probe a while ago.
I just balled up some foil around a regular meat probe and that worked.
I've also just let it hang between the grates and that works fine too.

Lol. I use either the grate clip that comes with the maverick or alligator clip with the guru. You can find the maverick clip on ebay. I've also heard of using a wine cork.

I've used one of those black document binder clips you have to have something on which you can clip it.

Look at the thermo sites. I have seen replacement clips on there. They are the same as the clips for turkey fryers.
