Crazy weekend

We cooked in Fitzgerald Ga last weekend. And let me say for a first time competition they really set the bar high! Water and power were only 15 feet away from my trailer. They had a ton of volunteers that would help you anytime you needed help. An awesome breakfast that Saturday morning. Started awards early and had some very cool awards and awesome payout! We are looking forward to competing here again at Fitzgeralds Pig Pickin BBQ Cookoff.

But we had the Craziest cook in the history of Pots BBQ! As soon as we get to Fitzgerald it was 2000 degrees and I ate 2lbs of Gnats with ever breath that I took. I set up a pop-up tent and the wind blew it about 30 yards away breaking it. Went to get Brianna a room at the motel and all motels were full so then we went to Walmart to get two air mattresses and a fan to blow them up with. Next we went to eat and took over 25 minutes to get our food and then when we got our food there was hair in the food. Later that night went to blow up the air mattresses and the air pump that we bought did not work. So we got a pump from Randy to blow up the air mattresses and both of them had holes in them. So I got maybe 2 hrs sleep. (And I only got 3hrs the night before)

But I wasn't worried because we had our Deep South Smoker running perfectly as it always does. So thankful for Randall Bowman and his team at Deep South Smokers! When everything else that we had was falling apart our smoker was staying strong and we were able to pull out a 4th Overall! WOW... That is a crazy stretch of bad luck for one weekend. But boy your on a roll this year brother, couple of GC and several other comps right there close.
All yeah thanks for recommending us to Deep South Smokers. We LOVE our new GC28 and our new open comp/catering trailer from DS Smokers. Randall did an awesome job on our pit!!!!

We had a series of bad luck like that in London KY last year. It rained something like 4 inches in one weekend. Our EZ up blew alway and over a fence and destroyed it. We huddled up in the other while our smoker (BWS) at that time was sinking and leaning almost falling over. While doing the brisket turn in box the other EZ up blew over and rained in our turn in box.
We finished pretty good but our brisket was money and most of the time our best category. But the rain in the box killed it. We finished 8 OA - 11 CK - 2 Rib - 8 PK -19 BR.

Great Finish. What rub do you use on GA gnats? Why don't you get a couple of hammocks?

We use our Pot's Happy Rub on Chicken, Ribs, and Pork. I've got a cot but it would have been to wide with the air mattress.
