What’s up BBQ Brethren community. I just noticed that I have not logged into this site since 2015. I’ve been a charcoal guy for years, using my Weber Smoky Mountain and Backwoods Chubby, but it is time to bite the bullet and switch to a pellet grill. I’ve never used one but my buddy has a Traeger and swares by it. I haven’t done much research so I decided to check with the best of the best, which is all of you guys. I’m pretty set on going with the Traeger Pro 575. Just wanted to hear the pro’s and con’s from anyone in here who is using one of these pellet grills, or something similar. Appreciate all feedback. Thanks!
James

I just got my first a few weeks Ago - Grilla Silverbac

that Traeger is Small with a Small Hopper -18 lbs. and I prefer stainless cook grates and as much stainless inside as possible - burn pot, burn pot cover, drip tray etc.....

Here's my pellet ponderings leading up to my purchase :

I narrowed it down to RecTec or Grilla and Grilla had their Non WiFi model On Sale for $599 so that's what I chose..........

Depends on your Budget -do you want to grill more or smoke more or Both ? I'd get a Pit Boss over Traeger's cheaper ones.....

If you didn’t like smitties response I’m not sure what you’re looking for, someone to buy it and set it up for you?

See ya in 8 more years!

What's the budget?
What's the need? Smoking only or smoking and grilling?
How many mouths do you typically feed and do you entertain often?
Is US made important to you, or will an import work?
Lots to consider :)

I can see not much has changed in here since I left. Typical sarcastic response instead of providing some insightful information. Thanks for your useless input Bob.

Ouch. Who pooped in your bowl of cheerios today? You say sarcasm, i say light humor. You must be a hoot at parties. I will make sure to stay clear of your threads from here on out, even when i have insightful information.

Boy, you could cut the smoke here with a knife! My $.02, I did similar research not long ago and decided on a Pit Boss. Very happy with my decision. Good luck...

I have been quite pleased with my Recteq RT1250. I bought the competition cart (improved base and upgraded wheels) for it as I store it in my garage and move it outside for use

That's why I don't come here much anymore. Lots of know it all's and just plain outright *******s. Including some of the moderators. That's right I said it. Guess it'll be a while once again. So be it.

I'm not familiar with Traeger's Pro models, but I bought a Timberline 1300 a few months ago and have enjoyed using it. I like the double wall insulation and the stainless steel grates. Everything I've cooked on it has turned out great so I've got no complaints. I have my New Braunfels offset and WSMs when I want to play with fire, so the Traeger comes in handy when I just want to set & forget. The Timberline 850 is on sale at Ace Hardware for $1,400 but I've read various posts about getting floor models for cheaper. Good luck with whatever you choose.
