I've seen at least 2 reviews that mention the lack of an included ash tool on the Weber Summit Charcoal/Kamado. Am I missing something? I thought the one touch 3-blade system would easily clear out the burnt ash. Can someone help me understand why a separate ash tool would be needed or nice to have?

No, in my opinion you’re not missing something. There’s no need with the one touch system, the clean out couldn’t be any easier. I’ve never missed not having a tool with my Summit, it’s perfect as is.

The clean out on my performer is the same “one touch” system which gets most of the ash in the pan. I do use a cheap paintbrush to sweep the rest of the ash in the pan, and a small plastic scraper to scrape grease that may drip into the bottom from time to time. I usually wait until the next day to ensure everything is burned out before cleaning.

I have a Summit Kamado and have never thought I needed an ash tool.

Thanks

Thanks for confirming my hunch. The paint brush is a great idea. Looking back (with my standard Weber kettle), that would have saved a lot of time.
