sear plate for classic joe?

What Kamado Joe calls their "sear plate" is what I would describe as a round one piece cast iron grill grate.

The problem with the one they sell is that it's small enough to fit into a Joe Jr whereas I have the Classic Series III (which I think is an 18 inch grill).

Can anyone suggest a hack for the best 18 inch round one piece cast iron grill that will fit in my Classic Joe?

I have the adjustable racks that came with the Series 3 w/ Slo-Joe, etc.

Side note: the DoJoe accessory is the reason I chose the Joe over other grills and my only complaint is that I don't get to use it more!

The sear plate is not supposed to replace your grate, it replaces one of your heat diffusers. At least on the older ones, not sure if things have changed with the III.

Grate

I have one of these griddles from Academy that I use as a heat diffuser in my Akorn that might work for you.

You might use a set of Grill Grates turned upside down too but they will be much more expensive. Of course they will perform double duty and should fit better.

I did this a lot until I wired my grill grates to the pk and it works great as a griddle. I got a flat section of “griddle” from grill grates that lays on top of the grates now and it works well too.

The sear plate listed fits where the heat diffusers are. If you want cast Iron grates you can get the two piece versions.

This Kamado Joe model: https://www.kamadojoe.com/products/kamado-joe-half-moon-cast-iron-grate

Goldens has one: https://www.goldenscastiron.com/cast-iron-grate-for-18-ceramic-cookers/

As well as Craycort: https://www.cast-iron-grate.com/grids-for-bge-and-kamados.html

And a bunch of cheaper one piece versions on WalMart & Amazon: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Big-Gree...l-Sided-Cooking-Grate-18CI-A-by-GPM/266588088

Have not used any of the above so no idea of quality or fit.

I misunderstood what you're looking for. From your thread title I thought you want a plate, not a grate.

Grill grates with the rails on top. They're aluminum but work as well or better than cast iron. Also no seasoning, or rust, to worry about.

You can also turn them over and get a flat griddle type surface, albeit with small grease drain holes, which is what I thought you wanted.

I had forgotten they also have grill plates now.
