Winn Dixie had a buy one get one free sale on rump roast Thursday so I picked up two 6.5 lb rumps. Wanted to try something different so I made some slits and stuffed some garlic cloves in the roast, rubbed with some Blood Orange Olive Oil and Stubbs beef rub. Got the Bg Joe up to 350 (390 on theMaverick) and on she went. Meat IT was 39 degrees. Sliced some onions, bell peppers and small red potatoes aput them in a pan, salt, pepper, Worchestershire. Opened a pack of brown gravy mix a added that too. When the roast hit an IT of 100 went in the pan and covered with foil.
Off at 140 IT and sliced thin. Nice bark and really good flavor!
Let it swim in the gravy a bit.
Really nice! I'll pull out the slicer tomorrow and slice the rest for sammies. Maybe some debris poboys!
