The next Q Haven Competition BBQ Class is being held on March 11, 2017 in Orange, CT. Ted and Sheila Lorson will go through the entire timeline of a KCBS competition cook in this one day class. We will also cover competition strategy, meat sourcing, and go over some of the new presentation styles we worked on last year that made box building easy and increased our appearance scores. Our finishes in 2016 year in 10 contests include:
- Grand Champion, Harpoon BBQ Festival, Windsor VT (GC#11)
- Reserve Grand Champion, NYC BBQ Cookoff, Staten Island NY
- Reserve Reserve Grand (3rd Overall), Red White and Que, Cresskill NJ
- 4th Overall, Great Catskill Mtn BBQ Fest
- 5th Overall, Atlantic City NJ
- 7th Overall, Sam's Club Local, Manchester CT
- 9th Overall, Ridgefield Gone Country BBQ Festival, Ridgefield CT
- 12th Overall, Mud in the Valley, Green Lane PA
This is in addition to numerous individual category calls and a fourth trip for the team to the Jack Daniel's World Invitational BBQ in Lynchburg. During the class, we will show you exactly what we do, starting with prep at home and finishing with turn in boxes. And you will taste it all. This class is perfect for a newer team wanting to improve their game, or the more experienced cook looking for new tricks and techniques to try. Or even the backyard cook looking to blow away their friends with killer BBQ.
