He is probably having trouble getting the Koa... speaking from experience here.

Actually, he has the koa blanks; I called dibs on them for my knife months ago. The problem is he's still making this first batch of knives. I'm taking a gamble by buying into a knifemaker's first batch of knives, but Dave knows kitchen cutlery and I trust him to do it right. Also, after talking with him about how he plans to grind out the sujihiki I'm very excited, it's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for.
