I finally broke down and ordered a Meater thermometer, big thanks to Big Poppa Smokers for the gift card from a previous TD win! I’ve had it for a while but this was my first opportunity to use it, so I put it through its paces.
My review is that it’s super easy to use, from setup to the app to use during the cook, I’d occasionally have connectivity issues when I would change for floors and/or put significant distance in between me and the base station but I’m not really faulting it for that. I like how it continues to assess the rate your meat is cooking combined with the trend of cooker temp to estimate when it’ll hit your target temp. So far so good, I look forward to continue using it. Really nice to not have to mess with corded probes and to have meat and ambient temp all in one.
I did beef ribs yesterday and a smallish brisket I’ve been wet aging in the fridge. Some Hatch Chile sausage to use up the residual heat at the end of the brisket cook.
