How should I clean a public grill grate?

Cooking the funk off is the easy part. I think we all have that skill down.

I'm usually more worried about tiny fragments of crushed glass and other nasties.

Burn it, scrub it, oil it and burn it again.

Bonus points for making a public spectacle of using a flamethrower or weedburner.

I will not use a public grill. The funk of ages and Lord knows what encrusted on the grates.

That's where my Weber Smokey Joe goes to work. :-D
Completely agree...why I always bring my own grill to outings. Sorry. Never liked the Smokey Joe...too small on both grill and air space. Sold it at a garage sale.

Took the 22 OTS everywhere. Breaks down easily. Kept it wrapped in a tarp for traveling.

Weber's ultimate charcoal portable grill is the Jumbo Joe. 18" and far more portable the 22 OTS. Can do things a 22 can and things a Smokey Joe couldn't come close.
