Official Entry.

Since Gore is not entering Throwdowns lately, it seems that General Tso has not been around much, either. I pretended to be Gore, and was able to contact the General, an asked him how I (Gore) might be able to win this Throwdown. His response was this...

如果你想要赢得亚洲鸡开胃菜,你需要培根。

BRILLIANT!

I was reluctant to enter chicken wings, as there are already multiple wing entries, but the General reminded me that this is a bbq-brethren forum, and that I should draw on the power of BACON!

Here are the marinade players...

I took some wing drums, skin removed (not needed with a bacon wrap), and added them to the marinade. The General said to let them marinade for at least an hour.

He then said that I should wrap the marinated wings in bacon -- bbq-brethren kryptonite. And then put some more of the marinade on them, just to keep Ronelle from issuing a sketchy DQ. :becky:

Then, onto the OTG.

Let them cook until done, and try not to fark up the money shot (below).

The General couldn't taste the finished wings, but I think he would have liked them.

I might roast a chicken and gravy then...:heh:

I just heard from the General regarding CD's TD entry:

Excellent BBQ Brethren Brother's Church showdown entrance, Casydog. You will be glad to do Tso.

Decided to do some chicken dumplings, asian style. SO i thought a great way to start was with some chicken thighs. Let's start off with the marinade.

1 Cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
1 Cup Teriyaki Marinade
1 Tbls Chinese 5 Spice
1/2 Tbls Ground Ginger
2 Tbls Minced Garlic
1Tbls Sesame Oil

I let the chicken marinate in that per night. The next day I started up the UDS aka Diesel Boy, got him up to 425 degrees, and threw the marinated chicken thighs on skin side down to start.

After about 30-40 minutes I flipped and basted them with some Soy Vay Veri Teri-yaki sauce. It's a great teriyaki sauce with sesame seeds.

One done I pulled them from the grill and let them rest.

Dumpling Filling

1/2 Cup Jullian Cut Carrots
1/2 Onion Finely Diced
2 Scallions Chopped
3 Cloves Garlic Finely Chopped
1 Head Bok Choy (Or 1 Head Boston Cabbage)
Sesame Oil for cooking

This gave me time to make up the rest of the dumpling filler. Sliced up some carrots, scallions, onions garlic and cabbage. I heated up some sesame oil in a skillet. The carrots went in first to soften, then the onions scallions, and garlic, followed by the cabbage.

After that was cooked I deboned the thighs and chopped the grilled Teriyaki chicken.

I then added the cabbage mixture with the Teriyaki chicken and let them cool and get happy.

IMG_7575-1024x682.jpg

Then it was time to start filling and making the dumplings. I used about 1Tbls of the Teriyaki Chicken mix for each dumpling and a little water to seal the edge.

After the teriyaki chicken dumplings were made they took a quick swim in some boiling water.

Were next drained and patted dry, then I gave the teriyaki chicken dumplings a quick pan fry.

Here we are all finished and plated. Pan fried Teriyaki Chicken Dumplings, scallions, wasabi, and Sesame Teriyaki sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
