Post #51 had several pics, so I am gonna guess the brick wall in the kettle is what we are talking about. Yeah?

One thing I love about my weber kettles is the ability to configure the coal bed and add to it mid-cook.

NO this Picture light it and let it burn in controlled manor at a constant temp or up to 12 hrs no adding fuel.

24" width most effective? They have a 36" width also.

I did a brisket on my fatboy this weekend using this method. Fantastic results and the best bark I've gotten on a brisket.
