I've had Bear Claws for years and they sit in the drawer. Hands work just fine for me. I put on a pair of cotton gloves and then put food handling gloves over them (latex or whatever).

no they don't melt. Would not be much good if they did lol

I think they work fine. worked really well for pulling whole chickens.

For pork they are ok, but excel for chicken

I had the plastic version and they work well, but after continued use the tips do break.
