I wanted to pickup a wifi fan controller for my Humphrey's half pint, so I started doing some research and ended up going with the Auber. Not many people seem to post about them so I thought it would be a good reason to put up a review thread.

The reasons I went with the Auber vs the Cyber Q Cloud:

It was a little bit cheaper
Wifi set up seemed easier
Dedicated APP not web based

I didn't need extra probes so I went with it. I bought the Akorn WSM model with extra adapter for ball joints, and the 10cfm fan.

First off, one big con is the fan adapter for ball joint valves needs to be screwed onto the fan. You also need to purchase an additional bushing to match the ball valve you have. I thought id find it easy enough at home depot or lowes, but ended up needed to go to a local plumbing supply house to get the part. It was only 3 bucks so that was fine.

If I want to switch to the Akorn I'll need to unscrew the fan adapter so I won't be doing that too often .

I downloaded the app. set up the wifi. You must do it in a specific order because if you don't the unit won't recognize your wifi network. I got it figured out and i was ready to fire it up.

Here's the unit:

Set up the charcoal basket with some Stubbs and hickory chunks:

Lit about 10 briqs, easily set the unit to 250 with my app and let it come up to temp.
With the controller the smoke became cleaner much faster than with running it w/o the fan.

Here's the rig set up with the smoker:

Prepped some ribs up with Slap ya mama, and Big Bob Gibson's rub:

I let it cruise at 250 for most of the cook, Then ramped it up after the wrap to 275.

The thing is pretty rock solid at the temp you hold any variations were from me fiddling with the temp or opening the cooker. Here's some snap shots from the app.

In summary, I'm not crazy about the adapter set up, but everything else about the unit is great. I love being able to adjust my temp from my phone from anywhere. It's just fun. I can be at the store check my food, and adjust temps as needed. It has high and low alarms to alert you if anything goes wrong. It all functions as it should and should last a good amount of time.

Another cool feature is that you can export the data from you app to an Excel csv data file and you can create other versions of the graph. I like that.

Buy the Auber, if:

You don't need to switch cookers a lot. (you can buy extra fans i suppose if you do)
You don't need more than one food probe
