Hi everyone my name is Peter I live in Queensville Ontario Canada which is approximately 80 kilometers north of Toronto .I am a retired Plumbing and heating contractor and presently live on a 22 acre farm.
I am a great BBQ enthusiast and like outdoor cooking, I presently have a 5 burner BBQ and an old offset smoker that has been much modified (not finished yet).
I am also an amateur radio operator and a member of The York Region Amateur Radio club, twice a year we have Field Day this is where we set up an emergency communication center and try to make as many contacts as we can in 24 hours these events happen all over North America, this is a practise exercise to hone our skills in the event of a major disaster and loss of communication systems, this has happened numerous times over the years including Hurricane Katrina.
My main function in the club is cook, and on field day I have to provide and cook food for 60 or more people 5 meals and snacks for two days, all this happens in a field with no electricity, water, or shelter except what we bring out our selves.
My kitchen consists of one 5 burner BBQ one 7 burner BBQ one 30”X18” propane flat top and two pot burners for hot water, and a hot box to keep food hot until served ,any electrical equipment has to run of generators including radio equipment and lighting. As the operators are on the air for 24 hours coffee and snacks are very important, Saturday night’s supper is the highlight of the weekend.
This brings me to finding The BBQ Brethren Forums I Goggled pulled pork for 60 people and found here.
The information I found on this site will be a big help to me in providing meals away from normal facilities and I look forward to learning a lot from what appears some very knowledgeable people.
