I picked up a Bandera on Craigslist a couple days ago and am planning on running some of the mods listed here to help with bringing it up to heat and maintaining temps (fire bricks, high temp tape for the door, raised firegrate, charcoal basket). I wanted to ask what your strategy for fuel is...

    Temperature Variation

Just ran an experiment with my new Inkbird 6 probe wireless thermometer. Put each probe on a different shelf of my Oklahoma Joe Bandera and then dropped a full chimney of lit charcoal in the fire box. Pizza stone instead of firebrick?

Coveting my neighbor's Bandera and Newbie Questions

No, I am not eyeing my neighbor's wife (not that I would admit it any way,) but he does have a NB Bandera parked on the side of his house and never uses it....and I HAVE been eyeballing that! I have never smoked anything in my life, but I am a reasonably experienced professional cook and have...

So, I've been looking to upgrade from my gasser to a stick burner and I think I found the style I like most. Only problem is most of them have been way out of my price range.
