Of course we will all have options that may save us money and such but when an item is functional and offers cooks another option it can't be all bad. I think many here are concentrating more on the price and little on the functionality. Just like a pig tail could be replaced by your set of tongs or your weed burner could be replaced by a wax pellet each item has its own unique offering. With a hobby where some people spend 15-20K on just their cookers this $79 item is nothing more than a grill tool. As well Darwin is a board member. In the past the board has always been receptive to members offerings.
Maybe all of our weber maestros could use their knowledge to make suggestions to possibly improve the item or make it more appealing to the board and masses.

Full Disclosure, I am the owner of Adrenaline Barbecue Company, which sells this product. Before making up your minds on the merits of the Slow 'N Sear I just want to point out our informational page ,our customer reviews page and the Slow 'N Sear review on AmazingRibs. We are getting GREAT feedback from everyone who has used the Slow 'N Sear.

Looks like an excellent product. From the pics it will probably out last 2-3 weber life times so I like it. If I can't replace my weber with a small big green egg soon I will be buying one.

It's the "functional" aspect that I am commenting on. It's a "one trick pony". It takes up half the storage space that a rotisserie ring does, and restricts the available grill space. The rotisserie ring at least adds a different dimension to cooking on the kettle, to offset the storage issue. When not in use, the bricks set out of the way on the wire triangle on the kettle base.
Perhaps hollow SS bricks that could be filled with water or sand would be a better option. They would store as easily as bricks, would be just as versatile as the bricks, and would allow added charcoal into the space wasted due it the curved side of the Slow and Sear.

I suspect you have not read the informational links I provided. Take a pass through our reviews page and you'll see customers have cooked all kinds of food using the SnS, and in large quantities. It can handle a 15 pound whole packer or two pork butts weighing 17 lbs total.

You are wrong, I did read them. If someone wishes to purchase your product, I have no problem with that. I just would never recommend it.
It no longer exists, or I would post a picture. I made a coal holder shaped the same way out of a piece of scrap metal at least 15 years ago, except I also used a water pan under the meat. It took up too much of the grill space, so I just piled the charcoal against the side of the kettle, which took less space and, since I could fill the space the curved portion of the metal blocked, the burn lasted longer.

I didn't see where you posted before I posted my mod to the weber. My post was not about one-up-you nor any disrespect to you or your product as I was just posting a different approach to the same end.

I have been using a smokenator for a while now for small smokes. I would consider buying one to replace the smokenator if something happens to it. I have spent more on less. Just don't need two of an item as similar as they are. I do see improvements to this over the smokenstor however.

@Smoke® no worries and no disrepest was intended your way either. There are a ton of great mods out there that work for very low cost.

Great mods aside, the Slow 'n Sear is an out of the box solution that works much better than some here are giving it credit for (and better than any mod I or my testers have tried). Hopefully we have a few Pitmasters here try the Slow 'n Sear out. I'd love their feedback.

I'd love to be a beta tester! Lol I just dropped a grand on my jeep and if another card board box shows up I am sleeping alone for a long time!

I am in the same boat here. The smokenator is working good for me, so I have no need to replace it at the moment. I do think the way the water bin sits and the contoured side is an improvement over the smokenator design.

Exactly what I saw as well. The water being where it is seems like it would provide a heat sink to further insulate heat from directly hitting the meat. Plus holding a quart of water, it would be a lot less refilling than the small pan I have now.

The V-shaped (patent pending) design of the water reservoir controls how quickly the water boils off. One quart lasts 5 hours at 225F (conservative claim).

Ill give my constuctive review from afar ignoring the price.

The smoke aspect would work just fine, its the sear function i am sketchy on. When comparing this to my current solution, 2 bricks i feel it would be less versatile. I can adjust how much area is available to sear. The smoke & sear is more rigid in that aspect. It doesnt look like enough sear space for my needs.

All in all it definitely looks like a better smokenator with some sear capabilities but in my opinion doesnt improve on my 2 brick setup

Tonight's steak cook on the SnS
