Shirley Fab does it again!

I saw what I believe is your model on his Facebook page two days ago. I thought I had in my mind what I wanted until I saw this. Short of the chrome wheels, I'm basically going to copy your model. Hopefully you don't have a copyright on it already.

Please keep taking pictures and post everything about it. I would love to hear everything about this as you do a little cooking tonight.

Can't wait to hear it. I have had nothing but a great experience talking with Paul and interacting with him through email.

Can't wait for more pics either.

OK I finally began to recover from my "meat coma". For my first cook I am stoked on the ribs and the ABT's were great... The butt, well its sitting in a stall at 167 degrees lol. So while we're waiting, Here's what Paul and Tyler did for me:

My cooker was all finished; after the couple months of suspense, I was so excited! Paul sent me a couple of pictures and it looked sharp. After looking over every bend and curve of this beauty, I noticed one little oversight, the roof. The roof of the warming cabinet was flat instead of the hip roof. Not a huge deal, but not quite what we had talked about.

Incase you are not totally following, this cooker was DONE, painted and ready to ship on Friday morning. It was Wednesday night when I got the pictures and noticed the different roof design. I talked to Paul and I debated whether to mention the roof design. Paul had been very graciously working with my shipping deadline... Why even mention something that is impossible to fix within 24 hours of shipping?... Well I brought it up.

What did Paul say? Within 20 minutes of mentioning it, I had a text from Paul. He said "Don't worry, I talked to Tyler, we're going to make it right, it'll be ready by Friday". I don't even know how they managed with such little time, but they made it right. The next afternoon I got pictures of my cooker looking sharper than ever. He even added some meat hangers while they were at it. That is integrity and generosity. Paul and Tyler amazed me with their dedication. Most builders might offer to fix it...But it would take time (cutting the flat top off, fabricating a new top, repainting etc.) With the deal I got on shipping that would involve scrapping the shipping bid and finding another shipper. These guys hooked me up!

Shirley Fabrication is a company that I want to do more business with. They are the type of people that go above and beyond. What more could a person ask for? Awesome cookers from awesome people. That my friends is Shirley Fabrication!
Thanks again Paul and Tyler.

Fine looking pit you've got there. Is the tray in the bottom of the warmer a griddle or a charcoal pan? Does it have the dampener on the bottom?

Good looking guards as well.

Thanks, they work for scraps ;)
It has the charcoal pan in the bottom, I think the griddle might be a new thing? I just heard about it for the first time very recently. I was surprised when I saw it, always cool stuff coming from custom builders! Yes it has the damper from the cook chamber to the warmer and from the firebox to the warmer. I played with this a bunch today, I think it is an essential upgrade if the budget permits!

Awesome design and craftsmanship! Looks like tons of room and options to cook in a reasonably small footprint. Smoke on! And if you are taking pics with an iPhone, take them with the phone sideways and the pics will post right side up.

Thanks, that was the goal. I wanted to cooker small enough I could fire it up for just me and the wife, Yet versatile enough to do some bigger cooks for small ish events. Between the grill space and the warming cabinet I am sitting perfect for my needs.

The pictures are with my canon camera, my phone takes terrible pictures. I thought I could just rotate and save on my computer before uploading but they show up the same way.

That is a grand looking pit, looks great in your yard - even in the driveway.
I was following that build on SF facebook page watching Paul roll it around with ease.
Congratulations!

Thats a beautiful smoker!
It's amazing how SF continues to put out so many quality smokers.
Your first cook looks like it turned out well.
My turn is coming. How much was shipping to Nevada ?

Thanks Man, appreciate the rib advice also! Ended up playing around and foiled 2 racks and left the rest un-foiled. Everything about the un-foiled was superior (as you said it would be). So I'm on the no foil bandwagon from now on. The butt finished up at 0330 this morning lol. Almost ran outta wood! PM sent on the shipping.

Another bang-up job by Paul and Tyler! Welcome to the Shirley family!

Paul - How many cookers have you made now?

How many??? Not sure but a ton..... Going to get a map and start pinning states... Hope you and your family are great.... Been missing you on the forum!!!! Good to see you brother

My SF pit is now vintage - maybe one of the first 5-10 ever made!!! It's probably worth a fortune now!!!
