Glad to be a new member here, look forward to learning from you guys and gals. This Forum was instrumental in doing my research when upgrading. Lots of positive clear information and not the bickering and criticism of some of the other forums.
Well a little about me, I'm 27 and originally from MN and was introduced to some good smoking and BBQ once I moved to Ohio for a job out of college. I really fell in love after a few trips down south on business trips to Alabama.
I love to smoke ribs and chicken for friends on the weekends and have ventured into brisket and pork butts a few times. Currently I cook on a Wal-Mart cheap offset smoker and have a 250 gallon oil drum trailer grill/smoker that I use for some big cooks with a few friends from work.
Just yesterday after a few weeks of research on this as well as a few others I placed an order for a Yoder YS640 with the competition cart. I plan on taking the KCBS judging class next month and judging a couple of events this year in order to learn the competitions from that side before cooking in one. This year will be practice, practice, practice so that hopefully by next year I will be confident enough to compete in some of the local events.
