I just registered for my first amateur comp coming up on the weekend of 7/24. For judging, we have to provide 150 samples with 2 oz each of pulled pork. If my math is right, I'm going to need around 19 lbs cooked in order to fill these. Can anyone tell me around how many lbs I need to buy in order to make sure I have enough cooked weight?

You can usually calculate a 50% loss in pork, so I would go with about 40 lbs or maybe even a little more to account for everything.

I usually lose 40 to 50 percent in weight from raw , so I would buy 40 lbs raw to give you a little wiggle room.

300 oz cooked means 600 oz raw. That's 37.5 lbs raw, so I agree with 40 lbs.

150 2 oz samples for a competition???

Is this a people's choice?

Yes. It's supposed to be numbered cups with the samples and ticket holders just pick which number they thought was the best. I talked to the lady yesterday and she said she has 150 tickets to sell/give away for the people's choice.
