We are heading to Baytown (Houston area) to visit my wife's grandmother around the 1st of November. We are going to run to Austin to Franklins on Wednesday (preordered food, did not have time to wait in line) but are there any must hit BBQ places around the Baytown or Houston area? Last time I was there we hit the TinRoof and was really impressed with it, but looking for something that is a little closer to where we will be staying in Baytown.

Thanks!

Tom

Killen's in Pearland should be on your list. And you might see JJ Watt there for lunch. Only open for lunch, closes at 2 or three, don't remember the exact time. While you're down here, be sure to make a stop in Buc-cee's. It's a real Texas experience. And there's one in Baytown as well as New Braunfels and Bastrop that might be on your way to Austin

There isn't any Q worth a damn in Baytown. I was born there. Lived in the area a loonnnnggg time. However, there is Rooster's. That is pretty good grub. http://www.roostersinc.com/

There is a coon ass that still makes the best cajun food out of an old gas station in old Baytown. Thibodeaux's. It's good, http://www.yelp.com/biz/thibodeauxs-cajun-food-baytown.

Most all of the Tex Mex places are good,. I am partial to El Toro, especially the Garth road location. http://www.eltorotexmex.com/locations-and-menus.html

The Monument Inn is a good stop. (Seafood) Right next to where we kicked the crap out of Santa Anna! (the monument) and the Battleship Texas. http://www.monumentinn.com/houston-seafood-restaurant-menu.html

Sorry about lack of BBQ places,.. but honestly, there ain't none worth your time or dollar.

Regards,

Kevin

This... Go to Killen's man. I went today for the first time and it was excellent. Got there at 10:25 and I was in the building by 11:15. Line tripled in size between 10:40 and 11:00.

I also thought Roegels Barbecue Company was quite good, but that's downtown Houston and Killen's is closer to Baytown and better product.

Thanks for all the tips...getting ready to head down there in a week and I appreciate all the recommendations or unrecommendations..
