Hello brothers! We are having a little cookout at work on Friday and I got assigned an appetizer or side dish. Any fan favorites that I could put together tomm night for Friday? I'll have access to an oven if I need to reheat and a grill if there is something fun to do. There will be around 15 people we'd need to plan for. Thanks!

How about a pan of mac'n'cheese? There are many recipes floating around, and it usually goes well with just about any BBQ. I like to make mine in a foil pan and cook it in the smoker but you could easily make it in advance at home in your oven and then reheat in your work oven or maybe even on your grill.

Sounds like a great idea...any specific recipe that you've had success with that could be passed along?

Baked Beans, ABT's, deviled eggs, roasted corn, potato salad, potato bombs. Need more ideas?

How about a Mexican dip.
1 8oz cream cheese
1 can Rotel dice tomatoes
1 Hormel chili no beans
1 8oz package shredded cheese

Mix the Rotel and Hormel after draining of liquids
Spread the cream cheese over the bottom of a 9"x13" pyrex
Spread 1/2 the Rotel and Hormel mix over the cream cheese
Put the shredded cheese over the whole thing until it starts to brown @ 350 in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Let sit till it firms up and serve with tortilla chips
Adjust the heat with the type of Rotel diced tomatoes you use

Next time I take an appetizer somewhere, it'll be pig shots:

You can read how I made them HERE.

Moink balls with some cold beer to wash them down.

Appetizer:

Dirty Shrimp in Butter-Beer Sauce

2 lbs shrimp, shelled and deveined
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
2-3 oz lager beer

1. Saute garlic and herbs in butter until garlic is slightly browned.

2. Add shrimp, stirring constantly, until shrimp are pink and done.

3. Continue to stir and pour the beer in slowly, adding just enough to make sauce. Simmer 1 minute more, and serve.

Side Dish:

Grilled Asparagus. Trim shoots, coat with olive oil and season with sea salt. Grill over medium heat until a bit wilted and slightly blackened, about 8-10 minutes. Rotate midway through cooking.
