Well I am going out to San Diego for an early Christmas with my older sister and her family. I was wondering if there were any good bbq joints there.

I will be staying at their house in Coronado but will have access to one of their vehicles, so driving won't be an issue.

I have given up on BBQ joints in my area but will have to try out Cali Comfort for sure.
I can smell the Phils BBQ in North County from my house (slight exaggeration) but I have had a couple of disappointing experiences so I do not go any more. I may have become a BBQ snob so your mileage may vary.

I liked Phil's beef ribs, but not so much their BBQ'd chicken. BIG ribs and SMALL chickens! With all the sea-gulls around the place I'm wondering if they supplement the chicken with other birds of a-feather?!?

Not the best, but it is what it is...

You want to go to:

When Pigs Fly in Vista
http://whenpigsflybbqandcatering.com/
Dale and Tammy Ginos are competitors and great people

Also check out Brazen BBQ
http://www.brazenbbq.com/
John Bracamonte and Brad Evans are also from the competition trail and do great stuff.

Finally Check out My man Coop at Coop's West Texas BBQ
http://coopsbbq.com/
Great stuff and great folk

Go to all of these places, find the owners and tell them Bigmista sent you!
(Seriously, I don't know if that will do anything but give it a shot anyway!)

Now that is a great list to go on. Since I'm going to be cooking some BBQ for my niece and nephew while I'm out there, I will probably only get to go to 1-2 places. But it will be from this list I'm 100% sure.
