All these throwdown entries have got my mouth watering.
We make our own flatbreads and love it but also want corn flat breads.
I am assuming that like our breads, homemade is better.
Could you please peruse this site.

we are thinking the Oval press and the Masa yellow flower would be the go.
Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.
Are these presses any good or do I need to go Overseas/Mexico to obtain one?
Vonnie is getting tired of rolling the flat bread.
Anything else on this site that will be worth grabbing.
Prices for here are very reasonable

I think either of those presses would work fine. As far as the flour, I would go with the yellow Masa, but that is just my preference.

Homemade is always better because you choose the quality of the ingredients and you know exactly what you are eating.

They look similar to what we have here, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_0_13?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=tortilla+press&sprefix=tortila+press%2Caps%2C242"]Amazon.com: tortilla press: Home & Kitchen@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51WslVEu59L.@@AMEPARAM@@51WslVEu59L[/ame]

if you look at your image and hit the next picture they look almost identical.

I have never used BRM Masa the Minsa makes a good tortilla. Get either a CI or a wooden tortilla press those aluminum ones are not that good. The one I had one was not flat it left the tortillas to thick and uneven as it was concave on both halves. I broke the top pushing to hard trying to get it even. I built a wooden one it works like a champ

I have a Cast Iron cheapo round one I purchased at the Mexican market. It doesn't even have a brand name on it but it looks a lot like the one on that website.

It works well but you cannot press down on them real hard or the handle will break. (Don't ask me how I know this :twitch:) If you need to press down hard, your masa isn't wet enough. There is a fine line between too wet or too dry that you’re shooting for. Too wet and the masa will stick to the plastic. Too dry and you'll need to press down to hard. As your mixing up the masa take it in your hand and squish it. If it is at all crumbly it is still too dry. If it sticks to your hand at all then it is too wet. If it squishes easy but doesn't crumble or stick then you’re good to go.

As far as the round or oval one goes you need to decide what you will be using it for. The round one is obviously for tacos. The oval one is for huaraches. The thickness is different between the two with the huaraches usually being twice as thick, (1/4” to 3/8”) although you could make them thinner so you can fold them. They sell them at the market I go to. They are nice and thick and couldn’t be folded without breaking. Typically you place your ingredient on top of the huarache and eat it somewhat like a tostada. (see pic below) If you fold it, it becomes a quesadilla or a long taco.

The heavier and bigger the press the better.
