I've got 35lbs of bacon rubbed down with a bourbon black pepper seasoning cure. I'll let it cure for 10 days, soak in an ice bath for an hr then cold smoke for 6-8 hrs.

I made my own 18" and 6" pellet tube. Was thinking of using the 18" for the bacon cold smoke. What pellets are the best? Never done anything with pellets before.

Nice homemade pellet tubes.

Choose the pellet of your choice, hickory for a more pronounced smoke flavor, apple or cherry for a lighter smoke flavor.

The two pellet brands I used with the best results were cookinpellets (both hickory and perfect mix) and lumberjack. Both 100 of the wood you want with no fillers.

Cookinpellets I get on Amazon for about $35 for a 40lb bag. The lumberjack I get from a local smoker supply store for $20 for a 40 lb bag.

Let us know how it turns out.

Looking forward to the final results.

looks great!

i need to step it up. only 20# of bacon currently curing in my fridge.

I think after this batch I'll be in search of a curing fridge for the garage. The wifey isn't terribly pleased that I've taken up half our fridge. She certainly doesn't complain when she's eating the bacon though.
