This morning my 4 year old son and I put together the mini-WSM. We used an IMUSA pot and cut the bottom out. We're using the steamer plate as the diffuser. I put a grate 4" down from the pot's bottom lip.

Right now it's coming up to temp and I'm going to smoke some short ribs on it. Super easy project. I haven't painted it yet because I'm impatient, and I want to wait to paint it until I'm sure I'm finished drilling holes in the pot.

I'm considering adding an additional hole for my probes and possibly 1 or 2 more grate levels. I have the pot's lid to use when I need to take the pot off and set the pot somewhere. I don't want to put the pot on the ground or dirt if I'm camping.

Looks great. You will love the way it cooks.

Did you make a charcoal basket for it?

Thanks, c. I did not make a charcoal basket for it, but that is on my list of potential changes. As of now it's running at 234 using the minion method with some hickory.

Looks good! so the squeezing of the lip worked?
