Exciting news out here in the Mid Atlantic. The Mid Atlantic BBQ Association (MABA) has agreed to sanction a two-meat chicken and rib comp as part of the 1st Annual Adroit Theory Brewing Company Chili Cook Off on Saturday July 26. This is the date formerly occupied by the late and lamented Bluemont BBQ Bash, and the brewery is just a few miles down the road in Purcellville. We'd love to have more BBQ participation, and on top of that here's a chance for you to try your hand at competition chili in a cook off sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). All proceeds go to our donor charity the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research. Low entry fees and I have it on good authority there will be ample "marinade" available to BBQ and chili cooks. We are working with a limited space of 10'x10' per cook site, so if you're interested in coming, think small/backyard set up. If you're interested in trying your hand at chili, we got some folks willing to mentor/advise on that as well. More details as they become available, so mark your calendars. Come on out for our biggest and most off the chain chili cook off yet. Our host Adroit Theory Brewing Company is the newest nano-brewery in Loudoun County Virginia. They specialize in esoteric beers with an emphasis on barrel aging. As a nano-brewery they produce beer (literally) one keg at a time. As such, their beers are always changing, and tend to be interesting or unique.

Cook set-up begins at 8:00am, event opens to the public at 12:00pm. Entry fee $25, chili turn in 2:00pm. Meat is cooks choice, CASI rules apply. This event will be all about chili and beer pairings, so cooks think outside the box for our public tasting/People's Choice and bring plenty of chili for the public. The more tastings, the more money raised so appreciate your support. If you're a spectator/taster, BRING CASH for donations.
NEW!!! MABA sanctioned two meat ancillary competition (chicken and ribs). Chicken turn in at 3:15pm, ribs at 4:00pm. MABA rules apply so NO GARNISH. $30 for one BBQ category or $50 for both.
People's Choice will go until 4:00 pm or chili is gone. Awards will be around 5:00 pm, but stay after and enjoy our host's tasting room until 8:00 pm. All monies collected (CASI, People's Choice and MABA ancillary) go to our donor charity the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research www.lustgarten.org.
Watch this listing for more news on our event, accommodations, etc.. If you've not yet tried Adroit Theory's beers, you're in for a treat. And you'll probably need a place to sleep off the day's events.

Some people have had trouble finding us, as there are no signs (maybe one day) to Adroit Theory. When you turn on Browning Ct. off of Hirst Avenue, we are the second building on the left. The building is a light gray metal building, directly behind the red brick RCD building. Our suite (Unit C) is actually on the rear of the building. You can either park on the street, park in front of the building, or park perpendicular to the fence on the rear of the building. Our entrance is two gray doors on the rear of the building.
