Never sort your smoking wood when you're sleepy. I accidentally mixed up my white oak and alder wood chunks in a storage bin. Now I have to sort them out. My alder chunks are for fish and bread and my white oak is for my brisket and pork cooks.

How do identify my white oak chunks from my Alder chunks? Once their cut into wood chunks it's gets a little harder to tell them apart.

Oak grain is very identifiable. Once you figure out the difference, it will be easy. Google oak end grain and check out the pics. Then look at the cut ends of your chunks
