What about "refrigerate after opening" products that are sealed and unopened but that have been stored in high heat?

I have a case of Slim Fast type meal replacement shakes that contain milk and other ingredients that I normally refrigerate, but these are stored in the grocery store at room temp and say "refrigerate after opening." They sat in my car for over a month, and the car was in the California sun several times and I'm sure spent several hours each time in temperatures well over 100F (outside temps were around 100, so the car temps were probably higher).

What say ye?

I just stuck some in the fridge and when they're cold I will open one to see if it smells bad, but I'm going to guess that it will smell just fine. Just wondering if there is still a risk that they now contain something nasty and dangerous.
