    Choke Cherry for Smoking?

A buddy cut down a tree in his yard. Says the fruit is very astringent. Anyone here know about choke cherry? Can it be used for smoking? If so, does diameter matter? He's got everything from small branches to 4" or 5" diameter trunk. Should I bring it home? If so, would this be more useful...

Oak or Apple (other?) for a brisket & pork cook?

I'm loading up my Backwoods Party with a couple brisket and a couple pork butts for our Fleet Week party this weekend. I usually use oak for my brisket and apple for my pork. What should I do when I smoke both at the same time?!? Thanks, Chuck

    Different wood for smokin'

Anyone use Kiwi wood for smokin' in a UDS? I got some from a neighbor and also some apple, from his tree he cut down.
