Threw a brisket on the smoker this morning. Wife wanted some ribs too. Store has spares at 5.99 lb. and briskets at 8.49 lb.

Big increase and market say they expect it will get worse.

ouch. While the ribs are a little high, that brisket price is crazy

Was that at United? They have almost gotten into price gouging territory on brisket since the pandemic started. HEB's website shows they have prime for 4.11/lb now, it was usually 3.99/lb. I was a faithful United customer, but this whole thing has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Local United Spares 1.77#-current sale.
Full packer Brisket touches 4$# I’m out. Never say never but for two people it doesn’t make food sense. I didn’t even look at on Sale or not but brisket bin had several 70$ packers, so know they’re high at United. Read something last night that price of corn is driving meat prices higher. I’m often at my most creative in the MSU lab during times of meat prices spiking.

Current shortages gas. chicken, beef, corn, sure there are others, how long before we experience empty shelves at the stores.

Sounds like you went to Albertson's or Tom Thumb. Walmart has frozen spares in two packs for $1.74 lb, I'm in Fort Worth.

I been making some great thick pork chops from $1.79 boneless loin at Costco. No way will I pay those prices. Not that I can't just won't.

Man. I thought $4.98/lb for baby backs local grocery has was over priced. But man they look good. They have that "dark meat" color. Not that "pale pink" color. Im not meat specialist, but 10/10 times ive had so much better results with these "dark deep red" color baby backs/spares.

Brother works for Hormel. Expect pork prices to continue to increase as China buys US hog supply after swine flu decimated their hog populations.

Sams baby backs are up to $4#, just a few months ago they were $2.17. $4 will sound cheap in a couple of months. Chicken won't be far behind.

Rough for those of us selling Q. Got a case of CAB Prime packers 2 months ago @3.15. Now 5.20.

StL $4.99 ouch
