Good moderately priced wood splitter?

So how much wood are you guys using for an 8 hour cook? 2 milk crates worth or a little more? I got a free OK Joe but never used it yet.

That's close, maybe a little more for my SF Patio. As noted above, even the identical smoker will burn differently depending upon climate and wood. Shirley has a new 24x48 direct flow that has my full attention now. One more reason to start splitting, stacking, and seasoning wood.

2.5 splits an hour on average on the Shirley.

The OK Joe (unless it is a vintage model) will require almost twice that, more if its windy.

I don't. Just strange. Must be your ambient temp, humidity, and wood.
Many SF Patio users run the firebox vent nearly wide open with a small fire in order to get the cleanest burning fire.

I can't speak for Shirley owners as I don't know any but I typically run my Lang patio with both exhaust and firebox vents wide open and control the temps by split size and amount added to maintain my desired temps.
