I've Cajun fried hundreds of turkeys over the years and have gone through hundreds of gallons of peanut oil in the process. Here's some first hand facts. 1. It only takes about 45 mins to deep fry a 14lb bird @ 350*F in clean oil. 2. It takes about 30 min's to get peanut oil up to temp depending on the BTU rating of the burner used. 3. Then you have cool down of oil and cleanup. Add 2.5 to 3 hours. 4. Peanut oil is expensive! Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I have spent over $100. I'm not going to fry a bird in dirty oil to save money. On the other hand (Oil less) 1. I spent (can't remember exactly) between $75 and $99 on my rig. It paid for itself the first holiday season I used it in peanut oil savings. 2. Super easy clean up. 3. I would put my oil less bird up against any bird I've ever deep fried. Just an observation from many years of doing them. Thanks for asking!

^ Me too, Mike, I've never heard of this or seen anything like it. Sure made a lovely turkey, the skin colour is absolutely gorgeous.

Man. Nice looking bird. Love the injection too - I've used it quite a few times.

Great looking bird Toast. My brother bought one of these this year, and only told me and his wife that he wasn't using the oil until after it was eaten. Not a single complaint, and everyone agreed that it tasted just like the ones done in oil. He felt the same way that you do that he will make his money back after just a couple of uses. Plus, this has to be at least a little healthier.

Great looking bird. I'll add another vote for The Big Easy. Have used mine for a couple of years. Did two again this year, and perfect, as always.

I've been tempted, but I use my rig for boils, too, and water-less shrimp boil just doesn't have the same ring!! Great looking turkey.
I usually use canola and strain after use. I get 2-3 turkeys out of the oil. Restaurants don't toss oil after one fry job but only when it either gets "old" which usually means too dark. "Old" oil will burn on ya for sure. I've done peanut oil but honestly can't justify the cost.
