Thanks to all the teams that made it to Arthur this year. As always it was a good time and great to see so many returning teams as well as quite a few new times.

Make sure to mark your calendars for next year. We were given the ok to make it happen again next year same time, same place. Looks like we will be holding the comp on the 12th-13th in 2012. Always fun to gamble with the weather gods. Hope to see everyone there.

Trucky1008 and I made it to Arthur, Il for the Central Illinois Bragging Rights Contest for the first time this past weekend. I want to say I had a blast. The people in this town are great. The event was well planned and went off without a hitch as far as I could tell. We will be returning next year. The weather was fantastic and it didn't even rain. Hey wait a minute, this makes the last two events we've gone to rain free. Seeya next year CIBR. :-D
 
Like Dennis said it was a great contest and we were fortunate to get 3 walks as well! A real nice contest to wrap up the season on. It was nice meeting Brian and Jon from Three Porks and a Smoker.

You know Stlgreg, as soon as I hit the dang post button, I thought to myself, boy oh boy was that stupid to say. I guess I will just have to buy a very expensive rain suit for next year. That will guarantee we never see rain. LOL

As always the contest was great. I have been doing this contest since the first year they had it in 2004 before it was santioned. Every year the experience is great. George and all of his staff do a great job.

I was lucky enough to get 3 calls this year. 7th in brisket, 8th in ribs and 1st place in sausage. Both of my boys competed too. They got 3rd and 4th.

Thius is a contest that I plan on doing every year. In face i had 2 choices this year. The Royal or Arthur. I chose Arthur.

The best thing is they redeemed themselves with the cinnamonn rolls this year, they were awesome.

Nice work Dennis and Don!! We got spanked at this comp but still had a fun time. I'm looking forward to it next year, maybe next year I won't servely undercooked my ribs. My comment card said flavor was good but had to RIP them off the bone. Ouch! I went home an tested my probes and discover I was 60F off. You live and learn I guess.:redface:

It was also nice meeting both of you! Also, thanks for the tour of your extreme trailer it was truly a site to see!! Maybe next year I can give you a tour of mine!:becky:
 
This was a great comp. Our first sanctioned comp and our results showed it...but we learned a lot - like to make sure our thermometers are correct. Yikes. Apparently, we missed meeting a lot of Brethren, but we were tucked away in a far corner...I think they were trying to keep me away from the respectable folk, or something.

Very proud of my son for his 1st place chicken/2nd place ribs in the Backyard event - and my daughter for her 5th place in Kids-Q. I wonder if her not saucing adversely affected her? She loves her chicken with nothing but "her seasoning" (S.M. Season-all) and I told her it was up to her...glad to see she's confident enough to go for it without sauce...

Lord willing, we'll see y'all next year.
 
George Great Job!!! This was also the first trip to Arthur for Mud's Barbeque, and our 3rd time out ever. The weather was great and we enjoyed the competition. A big thanks goes out to Zoe of CancerSucksChicago for being my turn in runner as I was cooking this event by myself. It was nice to meet a few folks and catch up with the Bonehead BBQ team.
