So I had previously seen Mister Bob's excellent tutorial on how to trim STL spares. The ribs came out awesome a few weeks back, and now I want to do the rib tips.

However, I thawed out the wrong cut i.e. I thawed the 2 trimmed mini slabs without any cartilage in them, and am now trying to figure out how to smoke them in the UDS.

I read numerous threads, and the info is somewhat confusing. Do I do them the same as spares ie 3-2-1 at 230F? Another thread used a SJ mini smoker mod but the times were different.

I would like to try one cut foiled and the other unfoiled.

Can some brethren help me out here?

ok, they have been in the UDS for 1h 30m. Will go 2-2-20m on the foiled one and see what happens. Planning to foil with Parkay and pinapple juice. Sauce with Noh's Hawaiian BBQ sauce.

Rib tips are a great way to try out new rubs and glazes. Looks like you are right on track. They cook considerably faster than a rack, so pull them when they are tender, not when a certain amount of time elapses.

Do them like burnt end . I did some at an event a few weeks ago they was a great hit.
