Hello,

SMOBOT now has a forum on bbq-brethren here:
http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=137

Please stop by to ask questions and get answers.

For those not familiar, SMOBOT is a new type of Kamado grill/smoker controller, which controls the temperature of your pit by adjusting airflow through the top damper. It doesn't need or use blowers to force airflow, which offers a few benefits:
  1. Elegance
  2. Low power consumption, facilitating long-duration battery operation
  3. No ashes are kicked up
  4. Virtually silent
  5. Wide operating range without need for inlet vent adjustments
  6. You can still access your inlet vent to clean ashes out without removing
  7. Simple to install -Just uses one screw (which came with your factory damper)
  8. It's fun to watch, and looks nice..
SMOBOT is WiFi enabled, and logs data to a free cloud service, mySMOBOT. This allows you to monitor your cook remotely, and to see graphs of the pit and food temperatures.

This device has been put through its paces by a group of 40 Beta prototype testers for about 1 year now. Amongst the testers, we had personalities and backgrounds of all types, including competition BBQ people. Everybody loved it, and have had nothing but positive feedback!

Currently, the production version of SMOBOT is in the final stages of refinement, and is available for pre-order via the ongoing KickStarter campaign: https://goo.gl/clWSJQ

Looking forward to interacting with you on the new forum!

Kind regards,
Eric

I work at controlling the intake to the fire first and leave the exhaust wide open throughout the entire smoke. I only choke down the exhaust as a last resort if I can't get the fire intake heat under control.
