So I got a replacement BGE gasket, scraped the old one off of the base and the lid, used acetone to clean it up the rest of the way, and I'm ready to put the replacement on.

<Stupid Question> How does one put the replacement gasket, which is straight, on a curved surface so that there are no wrinkles in the gasket? </Stupid Question>

Listening intently.

Thanks,
Bret

I have read on egg forum to preshrink them in the dryer.
I would start by the hinge work around and end in the back.
I have not replaced on myself, but will one day...

Just lay it in place around the edge and DO NOT stretch it. I kept my flush with the exterior edge.

I just did this last weekend. I bought the new nomex hi heat stuff. Forgot to pre-shrink it. I sprayed the glue, let get tacky, applied bottom then top. Just worked it around slowly without stretching it. Just made sure I pressed down good on the inside of gasket, it bends ok. Follow Fred's video and works good.

Better to overhang on the outer side than the inner.

Now you guys stop burning up gaskets.
